Spring Cleaning
Spring cleaning is the perfect time to get organized. As you clean, declutter, and reorganize each area. The more organized you are, the less time you'll spend cleaning in the future—and the more enjoyable your space will be.
Let's look at how organizing and spring cleaning benefit each other. Start with spring cleaning—there are ways to clean without feeling overwhelmed.
One room at a time.
This method involves moving from room to room, cleaning each space from top to bottom. Personally, I find this approach effective—I like to create a checklist and mark off tasks as I complete them.
One category at a time.
This could mean gathering all items from a specific category—like jackets, toys, or sporting gear—from throughout your home and sorting them at once, instead of tackling rooms separately.
“Three-Box” System.
The “Three-Box” System uses three containers: one for items to donate, one for trash, and one for items that need to be relocated to their proper place in the house. As you move from room to room, carry all three boxes with you. This approach makes it easier to sort items on the spot and helps reduce clutter efficiently.
Each of these three spring cleaning methods can be effective, depending on your personal style and needs. As you clean each area, take the time to carefully sort through your belongings. You might be surprised by what you discover—items you no longer need, things that are expired, or even something you’ve been searching for.
Aim to return everything to its rightful place by the end of your cleaning session. When you’re finished, you’ll enjoy a home that’s not only cleaner but also better organized!
